DK: it is a shame that students were ordered to the border

According to the vice chairman of the Democratic Coalition (DK), students are ordered to the border "to show a crowd for the government campaign", which is a shame. Referring to information from the Independent Police Trade Union, Ágnes Vadai said at her press conference in Budapest on Monday that the full staff on probation period, studying at Miskolci Rendészeti Szakgimnázium (Miskolc Police Academy) was ordered to the border, without any preliminary consultation.

Government party politicians hardly speak any foreign languages

According to the Hungarian government from 2020 an intermediate level language exam will be demanded from pupils wanting to apply for higher education. The online news site azonnali.hu wrote that the same Fidesz and KDNP members of Parliament are those who hardly speak foreign languages. Only 29 per cent of all ruling Fidesz members and 35 per cent of junior governing party KDNP members of parliament dispose of an intermediate level language exam.

Gyurcsány: Everybody can calm down, I won’t be the prime minister in 2018

Ferenc Gyurcsány anticipates a two-thirds victory for the left-wing opposition. In his opinion, this requires that on the list of the individual candidates only one single opposition candidate should be nominated against Fidesz. Hungary's ruling Fidesz stoking tensions ahead of elections , DK states

The spokesman of the Democratic Coalition (DK) party accused Fidesz of attempting to foment political unrest by raising the prospect of street turbulence ahead of next year's general election in a bid to retain power. Zsolt Gréczy noted that the speaker of parliament, László Kövér, had accused the opposition back in July of secretly planning street turmoil in the autumn with a view to stirring up tensions.

More than 600,000 Hungarians could be living in other EU countries

Around 600,000 Hungarians could be living abroad according to data compiled by economic news website portfolio.hu, substantially more than previous estimates. TheseHungarian citizens might only be able to register to vote in spring's general election as late as March 18, reports Magyar Nemzet.

Combining the four latest opinion polls (Republikon, Závecz, Tárki, and Medián), the average support for Hungary 's Socialists (MSZP) is only 12% among active voters. In the same category, Fidesz would receive 50.25% and Jobbik 19%. DK's support is 6%.
