Sukoró case: a show trial according to DK

Two former heads of the Hungarian National Asset Management Inc. (MNV) were sentenced to three and two and a half years of jail. This is the final judgement of the Supreme Court. The Sukoró case dealt with an exchange of properties during the period of the socialist government in 2008.

Hungary's parliament passes controversial NGO law

Hungary's parliament has approved a Russian stylorting requirements for the groups, which risk closure for non-compliance.
Critics say the move is a crackdown on independent voices and an attempt to stigmatise the organisations. Prime Minister Viktor Orban has accused foreign-funded NGOs, in particular those supported by billionaire George Soros, of domestic interference.

European Public Prosecutor’s Office established without Hungary’s participation

20 member states of the European Union have agreed to establish the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO), an independent Union body with the authority to investigate and prosecute EU-fraud and other crimes affecting the Union's financial interests, reports index.hu. Hungary already indicated that it will not support the establishment of such a body.
