The chairman of the Democratic Coalition voiced his opinion that there should be one leftist candidate for every constituency, because "there may be a lot of flags, but there is only one camp".
He said that he understood that László Botka, the prime ministerial candidate of the socialists, would run alone. "We don't feel offended, there is no anger, but it is my duty to represent those people who would vote for us"- he said. Mr Gyurcsány also warned of a witch hunt, should there be a victory by the current opposition. "They have stolen a lot, there must be consequences, but a witch hunt is not a good idea."
