According to information from the daily paper Magyar Nemzet, András Tállai, head of the tax authority (NAV) will be dismissed in January. Well-placed sources within NAV say that his dismissal is an open secret.
The newspaper reports that Mihály Varga, head of the Ministry for National Economy, is dissatisfied with Tállai.
For example, the minister did not know about Tállai's new tax proposals, which generated a debate between them, similarly to the situation when the NAV leader was surprised to hear about the initiation of an online invoicing system by Mihály Varga. They also had a conflict when there was a debate about how to cut back the headcount of NAV, whilst it decreased continuously because the employees could not cope with the burdens and the uncertainty. Consequently, the government has had enough of András Tállai and he will be replaced in January, Magyar Nemzet writes.
