The pro-government Civil Unity Forum (CÖF) is mounting a billboard campaign which puts Jobbik party leader Gábor Vona and Ferenc Gyurcsány, the former prime minister who now leads the Democratic Coalition party, into the same bracket.
The government-organized non-governmental organization CÖF placed full-page advertisements in major pro-government newspapers (Magyar Hírlap, Magyar Idők) showing an image of the clown standing between Vona and former prime minister and current Democratic Coalition Chairman Ferenc Gyurcsány under the text "They Found One Another! Together They Said No to the Anti-Immigration Constitutional Amendment". On the same date, CÖF leader Ervin Csizmadia announced that the organization would have billboard signs bearing the same text and image erected at locations throughout Hungary . The CÖF advertising and billboard campaign suggests that Prime Minister Orbán and his advisers continue to regard Jobbik as the main domestic political threat to the Fidesz-Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) governing alliance and will sustain the propaganda offensive aimed at defaming Vona
Referring to a picture of a clown on the billboard, Jobbik said in response that the clown between Vona and Gyurcsány represented Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. "Jobbik welcomes the pseudo civil group's billboard, showing their recognition that the prime minister is a reckless clown," the party said in a statement. Jobbik also demanded information on how much public funds CÖF has burnt on their campaign.
