According to the Democratic Coalition (DK), the Hungarian authorities were aware of the past of Ghaith Pharaon when they granted him a visa for entry into Hungary for a one year period.
Ágnes Vadai, MP of the opposition party mentioned this at her press conference after she had discussed the matter with Minister of State Levente Magyar in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
As Ágnes Vadai said, Levente Magyar announced at this meeting that the man (Pharaon) submitted his application for a visa in September of 2014 at the Hungarian Embassy in Beirut. The visa was issued on 15 October 2014 despite the fact that the authorities were aware of the past of Ghaith Pharaon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs alleged that the businessman held no valid visa after 15 October 2015 but they do not know, whether he came to Hungary or contacted the Office of Immigration and Nationality, applying for any visa, Ágnes Vadai said and added: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Pharaon had not been in Hungary since the spring of 2016.
She continued: Levente Magyar has not presented any documentation, so they can only refer to his information.
The DK politician also said that next week she will ask for information from the Ministry of Interior about the kind of visa the man has had for entry into the territory of Hungary since 16 October 2015, because they made deals even after that date.
Ágnes Vadai emphasized that in terms of security, it is worrying that a man who is wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the authorities knew about that, can get close to the Prime Minister and can have dealings with his family.
