harlie Hebdo, well-known for its divisive caricatures as well as the terror attack committed against it, is playing jokes on Hungary this time. The reason the magazine wrote about Hungary is the recent referendum and the refugee crisis.
The caricature portrays Hungarians as a nation of people who can be made happy by hatred. According to the publication, Hungarians believe that everybody would like to kill them in their dreams – wrote the portal pestisracok.hu, which also published illustrations of the caricature.
Gáspár Miklós Tamás is speaking about Trianon in the paper. The philosopher says that the detachment of the territories is the biggest tragedy of the Hungarian nation and, therefore, the right-wing focuses on this question. It has become their fundamental myth and most potent symbol of hate. We hate the North, the East, the South, the West, the United States, the European Union, the orthodox, the migrants and the Russians as well.
Zoltán Kovács, government spokesmen is also represented in the caricature. He asserts that the government does not want to initiate debates, but that it will protect the country, even if it creates problems. Kovács compares Viktor Orbán prime minister to Nicolas Sarkozy, the former President of France.
The journal mentions the referendum and the amendment of the constitution as well. The magazine published several interviews with various Hungarian public figures and intellectuals, such as Győző Lugosi historian, Gábor Pápai caricaturist, Gergely Kovács and Ferenc Sebő from the Kétfarkú Kutya Party, who speak about the foundation and the goals of the party.
